Have you heard the buzz about Golden and Blue-winged Warblers in Vermont? Whether you have or not, you can learn all about these species and their habitat needs by coming to spend a morning with staff from the Rokeby Museum and Audubon Vermont!

Together, we will clean up and add trees to a shrubland restoration planting at Rokeby Museum and talk about the priority bird species that the museum is helping us to conserve through this partnership. You’ll get a chance to learn more about specific habitat needs and bird-friendly restoration efforts in Vermont, and the staff at Rokeby Museum will share more about the history and mission of their organization. 

We will be cleaning up the existing planting plots by way of removing excess plant material (mats of grass, vines, and stalks that have grown through fencing, invasive forbs and shrubs growing in or near fenced areas), replacing existing fencing and repairing fence posts, and carrying out any garbage. We will also be planting a few trees to counteract any mortality since the original planting took place.

• While we will not need to walk very far (only a few hundred feet), we will be carrying tools or plant material, making trips back and forth, and working with hand tools. We will be walking on uneven ground through loosely maintained trails in thick grass and other vegetation.
