DESCRIPTION:Join us for a festival celebrating Vermont’s wooly heritage! This family-friendly event will feature live sheep (Hands and Heart Farm)\, papermaking (A Revolutionary Press)\, an “Instrument Petting Zoo” (Vermont Folklife Center)\, spinning/knitting demonstrations\, a historical dyeing demonstration\, food vendors (Tin Bucks Barbecue and Pinky Promise Pastry)\, and more!  \n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\nSheep & Wool Day activities and admission to the grounds are FREE. DESCRIPTION:Cost: Member $350; Non-Member $375  (All materials included\, course limited to 6 participants)In this TWO-DAY workshop (Saturday\, Sept. 21 & 28)\, students will learn how to create a historically accurate 18th-century\, gender-neutral shirt. This will include the fundamentals of no-waste cutting\, period hand stitching\, an overview of tools and materials\, and the basics of shirt construction. There will be a discussion of styles and other elements that indicate specific periods and how these clever construction techniques can be adapted to modern garment making. Students will leave with a shirt cut to their measurements on its way to completion and the knowledge and skills to complete it at home. Please expect homework in between sessions. The price of the workshop includes all fabric and notions. SUMMARY:Rokeby Theater Camp
DESCRIPTION:Join Rokeby Museum for a two-week immersive experience like no other. Set on a serene\, historic property\, young people will lose themselves in another time as they gain valuable stage experience. This unique program combines aspects of art\, outdoor education\, hands-on history\, and\, of course\, theater! Campers will draw inspiration from Rokeby’s stories\, the historic house\, artifacts\, letters\, and farm history to create their fictional characters in an original play. Outside of rehearsal\, daily activities will include improv games\, nature adventures\, plein-air painting\, and cooking with historical recipes. Camp culminates with a performance for families and friends!
